Give Thanks by Giving Generously

In God's great love, Serve on November 23, 2011 by scottsund Tagged: , , ,

Happy thanksgiving.  This is a great time.  Though the storms rage literally and metaphorically, this is a season to stop and say thanks.  Giving thanks to our family, to our friends, and to the God who continues to call us His own.  As we give thanks, we get to take stock a bit.  Think about our lives and the impact we are making.  It is one of my firmest convictions that people who are living the best stories are those that are making a difference in the lives of others.  Want to live a life worth bragging about?  Do something for others.  Step out.  Become bigger by serving the least of these.  Live every day trying to be more like Jesus.

I’m not sure if you saw this video that floated around Facebook a few weeks ago, but I wanted to share it with all of you.  It is the story of one man who is making a difference in one corner of the world.  But to his community, he is being like Jesus.  Perhaps without even knowing Jesus.  His life is a testimony to caring for others.  Take a look.  And as you give thanks, continue to dream about how you can serve others.  Serving others is how your life can become greater than you ever imagined.  It is the way of Jesus, he says it here and here and here.  Care for others, live deeply, and give thanks for every breath, every day.  Every act of service is like a silent thank you to the Lord who has called you His own and loves you today more than you probably even know.
