The Longest Night

In Hurt on December 21, 2010 by scottsund

Tonight will be the longest night of 2010.   That means in all the 12 months, the earth is furthest from the sun.  Or more precisely it means it is winter solstice.  The winter solstice lasts for just one moment. It occurs exactly when the Earth’s axial tilt is farthest away from the sun.

It is truly the longest night of the year, when dusk comes earliest and dawn is slowest to arise.  But remember, it lasts just for a moment.  And then by tomorrow, the days will be getting longer.  The sun will start rising sooner.  Dawn is coming.

For many, these are dark days.  And during the longest nights it is hard and lonely and confusing.  I encourage you to cry out to God in your darkness and in your pain.  Pray for the love of His life to pierce the night.  Dawn is coming my friends.  Jesus birth is days away.  And His life changes everything.  Take hope during this dark night.  Light is coming.
